1. Check the network password or security details
If you're connecting your PS5 to a password-protected network, make sure you have the correct password. Entering the wrong Wi-Fi password may trigger the “Cannot connect to Wi-Fi network” error message. If you are not sure, check the network settings or contact your administrator to confirm the password.
2. Manually connect to the Wi-Fi network
Your PS5 console will not automatically detect a hidden wireless network unless you have previously connected to the network. If your PS5 cannot find a network, join the network manually.

3. USA and Cable Ethernet
Switch to an Ethernet network if there is a problem with your wireless connection. Connect an Ethernet or LAN cable to your PS5 and set up the wired connection in the console's settings menu.

4. Run a network test
PlayStation 5 has a native tool to test and diagnose your internet connection. The tool can diagnose slow upload or download speeds and other connection issues. If your PS5 connects to a network but you can't use the internet, use the tool to check the network signal strength.
Open the settings menu of your PS5, go toRot>connection statusand selectTest the internet connection.
If your network passes all checks, there is likely an issue with your console or PlayStation Network servers.

Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or network administrator if the network problem persists.
5. Change the DNS server settings

Try playing online games or accessing the PlayStation Store and verify that your PS5 is now connecting to the internet.
6. Turn your router off and on again
Sometimes your router or modem is unable to authenticate itself or allow new connections due to temporary system glitches. Resetting the router can restore normal connection.
Unplug the router's power adapter from the outlet and plug it back in after a few seconds. For battery-powered mobile routers, remove and reinsert the battery, and then turn the device back on.
Routers sometimes don't work properly when they overheat. If the router is hot or overheating, turn it off and let it cool for a few minutes before turning it back on.

8. Disconnect other devices
Some networks have a "connection rule" that limits the number of devices that can join and use the network at the same time. If your PS5 or other devices cannot connect to a wireless network, the network has probably reached its connection limit.
Go to your router settings, increase the network connection limit and try connecting your PS5 to the network again. Contact your network administrator if you cannot access the router's settings. If you cannot increase the connection limit, disconnect other devices from the network to free up space for your PS5.
9. Whitelist or jailbreak your PS5
If devices other than your PlayStation 5 can connect to a network, your PS5 is likely banned or blacklisted. If you can access the network management window, check the Device Management or MAC Address Filtering menu to view the blocked devices.
Unlock or whitelist your PlayStation 5 to regain network access. Contact your network administrator to unlock your device if you cannot access the network backend settings.

10. Check the status of the PlayStation Network server
If the PlayStation Network (PSN) servers are down, you may not be able to play multiplayer games or access PlayStation Store even if your PS5 has internet access. PSN server outages can also trigger the followingError codes on ps5: NW-102216-2, NW-102265-6, NW-102636-8, WS-116483-3 und NP-103047-5.

11. Update your router's firmware
Wi-Fi routers often fail to function properly when the firmware is buggy or outdated. Go to your router's web panel and install any available firmware or software updates. Consult your router's manual or contact the manufacturer for specific instructions on updating the firmware.
12. Update your PS5

13. Reboot the router
Factory reset the router if none of these troubleshooting solutions solve the problem. Some routers have a physical button (hard reset) while you can only reset some of your settings or the admin menu.

14. Factory reset your PS5
Factory resetting your PS5 settings can fix performance and connection issues.
